Create with Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop!

Welcome to a Saturday Blog Hop at Create with Connie & Mary. We have a neat team challenge today and my card is so much fun. We are all creating cards that move! I opted to create a Spinner Card. Let's start with the front of my card. I'll list the steps for the front first and then we'll peek at the spinner on the inside:

I love this color combination together, so feminine!
And two of these colors will be retired on June 3rd!

Card Front Recipe:

  • Card Base: Berry Burst Cardstock 10" x 5". Score at 5" and fold.
  • Layer #2: Whisper White Cardstock 4-3/4" x 4-3/4". Glue to card front.
  • Layer #3: Powder Pink Cardstock 4" x 4". Emboss using the Lace Embossing Folder and glue to card front.
  • Layer #4: Whisper White Cardstock cut with the 2-7/8" circle from the Layering Circle Framelits Dies. Stamp the sentiment at the bottom using Memento Black Ink and glue to card front, centered.
  • Butterflies: Stamp the butterflies image from the Butterfly Gala stamp set using Memento Black Ink. Cut out using the Butterfly Duet Punch. Color the large butterfly with Powder Pink Stampin' Write Marker and the small butterflies with the Berry Burst Stampin' Write Marker. Glue all three butterflies to card front using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
Now let's look at the best part of my card, the spinner on the inside:

How this card works is you spin the butterfly to twist the twine, hold the butterfly in place and close the card. When the recipient opens the card, the butterfly spins! I showed this to my hubby when the card was completed and he was impressed. Here's a look from above so you can see how the cardstock in the center pops out to allow room for the spinning:

Inside Card Recipe:

  • Inside Layer: Powder Pink Cardstock 10" x 4-3/4". Score at 3", 5", and 7". Fold accordion-style. Stamp the branch image repeatedly at the bottom using Powder Pink Ink and the image from the First Frost stamp set.
  • Cut a hole in the center using the same circle die used on the front.
  • Flip over to the backside and glue a piece of twine or thread vertically in the hole. I glued the thread in place with Tear & Tape and did not peel off the backing from the tape.
  • Stamp two butterflies and cut out with the punch. Color the two large butterflies only with Powder Pink Ink. Glue the butterflies to each other back-to-back by placing the twine in the center.
  • Now spin the buttefly and gently close the card so the recipient will have a pleasant surprise!
