Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop!

Welcome to a Saturday Blog Hop at Create with Connie & Mary. Because we are so close to Christmas, we are taking a mini vacation next Saturday and will resume our blog hops on December 29th. It's so hard to believe Christmas is almost here! This week our theme is Winter. We are all using either snowman, snowflakes or snow sports. For my card this week, I opted to use a snowman:

When we receive our weekly assignments, I always work ahead so that my projects are ready in case I get super busy, which I have been lately. Because I worked ahead, you'll see that I used the Santa's Workshop Designer Paper which is now sold out.

The card I created for you is called a Clasp Card Fold. The portion of the card that the snowman sits on is the clasp which opens like this:

The designer paper strip that you see on the right-hand side, is actually glued to the inside layer:

So that means the front panel is a little shorter to allow the designer paper to peek through. Isn't this a really neat way to create a card? I love the colors I used to coordinate with the designer paper. After all, I am an anal matchy-matchy girl you know!

So there's very little stamping on this card. Only the sentiment as a matter of fact, which comes from the Spirited Snowman stamp set. The snowman image is cut from the designer paper pack. He's so cute!

Card Recipe & Measurements:
  • Card Base: Garden Green 5-1/2" x 11". Score at 3-1/2" x 7-3/4". Here's the tricky part. Place the 3" Scallop Circle Die from the Layering Circle Dies on the 7-3/4" score line by placing the die 1/2" to the inside of the score line. (you are cutting the die on the shortest side of the cardstock). When cutting the die, place the clear plate only on the die up to the score line. Do not cover the remainder of the cardstock with the clear plate. Run through the Big Shot, stopping where the clear plate ends. This will cut the partial scallop shape up to the score line. Using a Paper Trimmer, cut off both ends of the cardstock up to the scallop circle on the score line. Remove excess cardstock.
  • Poppy Parade Cardstock: 5-1/4" x 4" for the inside and 5-1/4" x 3-1/4". Glue to the front flap.
  • Whisper White Cardstock 5" x 3-3/4". Glue to the inside.
  • Santa's Workshop Designer Paper: 5" x 1". Glue to the right on the inside of a white layer. 5" x 3" glued to the front.
  • Sentiment: 3-1/4" x 3/4". Cut the left end into a banner and stamp the sentiment to the left using Poppy Parade Ink. Glue to card front about 1-3/4" from the bottom.
  • Clasp Layers: Cut a scallop circle that measures 2-1/2" wide from the Layering Circles Dies and Poppy Parade Cardstock. Glue to clasp and trim to fit on the edge. Cut the snowman image from the designer paper using the 2-3/8" circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. Glue to clasp using Stampin' Dimensionals and trim to fit on the edge.
  • Ribbon: Tie a knot with the Poppy Parade 1/2" Textured Weave Ribbon and trim the ends at an angle. Glue to clasp below the snowman using a Mini Glue Dot.
