A Quilt Card For My Aunt!

One of my Aunt's is having a birthday this month and she is an avid quilter. A few months ago I hosted a Shoebox Swap and a card with this layout was one of the cards we all made. Another Aunt of mine saw it on my blog and asked me to create one for the Aunt having a birthday this month. So here is my quilt card:

If you look closely at all of the shapes, they are all squares. Four in the center butted up against each other and the other four are cut in half diagonally to create triangles and glued in place at each corner of each square in the center. I no longer have the card so can't give you measurements but I think the squares were 1" x 1". Once all of my squares and triangles were glued in place, I used a retired embossing folder that was called the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. When you emboss the designer paper and white cardstock background at the same time, the embossing folder melds all the layers together to give it that quilted look. Neat!

I finished off my card by adding a cute little die-cut swirl from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies and topped that off with a sentiment cut with the Classic Label Punch. Happy Birthday to my Aunt Andrea this week!

  1. Beautiful. Love the quilt cards. I never made one but sure would like to give it a try.
May I ask what your card & layers are?
    Thank U

    1. I should have asked; card and layer sizes are.

    2. Hi Colleen, I noted in my blog post that I no longer have the card so couldn't list the measurements. I'm pretty sure I started with a cardstock piece that measured 5" x 10". Score in half at 5" and go smaller with your other layers from that point.

    3. Thanks Debbie. I so appreciate you responding to my ? Some bloggers just aren't as considerate in answering ?'s so Thank U.
      Have an enjoyable weekend.
