Tuesday Tips or Techniques-Napkin Fold!

I have a pretty neat card for you today for "Tuesday Tips or Techniques". The card fold is what is quite interesting. I just can't picture someone sitting somewhere messing around with paper and coming up with such a design. Genius!

The card is called the "Napkin Fold" and here it is:

And  this is how it opens up:

Why don't you join me today in trying to create one? I have the steps for you right here:

Step 1: You will need one piece of cardstock measuring 12" x 12". Lay on your Simply Scored Scoring Tool and score all four sides at 3":

Step 2: Fold on all four score lines using your bone folder. Fold all score lines again in the opposite direction. This will allow the folds to fold easily in both directions for the next few steps:

Step 3: Using a pencil, add a small dot in the very center of your cardstock at 6". Fold over one corner, meeting the penciled dot and fold using your bone folder:

Step 4: Repeat Step 3 until all four corners are folded:

Step 5: Unfold your cardstock and using the 3"x 3" scored corners that form a small square on each end, face the first square in front of you and push the two sides in with your fingers on the folds and push the square down to make it flat to look like the photo below:

Step 6: Hold the first square flat and continue around your cardstock piece until all four corners have been folded as shown below:

Step 7: Keeping the folds above intact, take one inside corner of one little square and fold over, folding in half. You will repeat this for all 4 sides to look like the photo below, forming 4 triangles:

When you let go, this is what your card should now look like:

Decorate as you like. I measured all of my squares and cut squares 1/4" smaller using designer paper and then cut them in half diagonally to create triangles to layer:

All of my triangular pieces are glued in place:

And I completed the inside by stamping some images and layering:

I created a  belly and to slide onto the card to keep it closed:

I had my girls from Techniques Class create this after our regular class one night as a bonus card and it was so much fun to see the different designer patterns that they all came up with. Each card was a little different. Have fun trying the "Napkin Fold"!

Thanks for stopping by to visit!
